Vermilion
Genuine vermilion oil paint. Vibrant colour with a strikingly rich vivid red hue. It has been a staple in art for centuries, used by artists ranging from medieval illuminators to Renaissance masters such as Titian. The pigment is produced synthetically by combining mercury and sulphur, heating them to form mercuric sulphide, and grinding into a fine powder.
Highly opaque, providing excellent coverage. Smooth texture, spreads easily and blends well.
Milled in refined linseed oil. No fillers, driers or waxes added.
Moderately lightfast. Sensitive to exposure to humidity and air pollutants, which can cause darkening over time.
Drying Time: Relative slow drying.
Toxicity: Vermilion is toxic. Must be handled with care. Contains Mercuric sulfide. Avoid ingestion and skin contact. Wear gloves.
