Stack Lead White (Dutch Process) Oil Colour

$220.00

Stack Lead White (Dutch Stack process)
Traditional artist's painting white, highly prized for its unique handling properties, opacity, and durability.
Made with historically authentic pigment made using the Dutch Stack method.
Lead sheets are exposed to acetic acid vapours and carbon dioxide in a warm, moist, sealed environment.
The process corrodes the lead to form basic lead carbonate on the surface of the lead sheets.
After 3 months, the white pigment is scraped off the corroded lead sheets, finely ground and washed to remove impurities.
Milled in refined linseed oil. No fillers, driers or waxes added.
Creates a highly flexible film, reducing the risk of cracking over time. Holds brushstrokes.
Drying Time: Fast drying due to lead content.
Toxicity: Lead white is toxic. Must be handled with care. Harmful if swallowed. Avoid ingestion and skin contact. Wear protective clothing and gloves to avoid contact with skin. Never use near children and pets. Lead can easily enter the system through inhalation, do NOT sand lead white surfaces.
